Fractional CO2 Laser Skin Resurfacing
Carbon Dioxide ( CO2 ) lasers ablate and resurface superficial layers of skin while also stimulating collagen production in deeper layers for the intent of achieving a brighter, firmer, smoother, more youthful looking complexion. In fact CO2 Laser treatments stimulate fibroblast cells for up to 5 months; Meaning you'll continue see results long past your visit
CO2 Lasers work by targeting water in the skin, instantly heating molecules to the point of vaporizing tissue; Imagine steam, but much hotter. Most people assume CO2 Lasers are actually fueled by CO2 however that's not the case; Instead radio waves are produced by the device and interact with natural existing carbon molecules in the chamber, resulting in the production of photons which then bounce off a mirror system that directs these photons into a collimated beam that are delivered in the skin via a light-guided handpiece similar to sniper rifle with laser sight so that the practitioner may deliver the energy precisely and as needed to a desired area
There's two different types of CO2 Lasers, ablative and non-ablative also known as Fractional CO2; both forms of the CO2 therapies ablate tissue, however fully ablative treatments remove the entire surface layer of the skin, leaving it compromised, at higher risk of infection and unwanted side effects such as scars or pigmentation whereas Fractional CO2 treatments only ablate pin-hole sized wounds into the skin, leaving the surrounding areas intact and supporting better healing; Harley offers Fractional CO2 for this reason
CO2 treatments are considered a soft-surgery procedure, they require downtime and can be rather uncomfortable. However, they're ideal for individuals who have deep expression lines that aren't softening post neuromodulators such as botox; and those with wrinkles, crepey skin, pigmentation, scars, orange peel like texture or pores that aren't shrinking with other methods
CO2 Lasers shouldn't be used on darker skin. Those with olive or yellow undertones should only consider this treatment if you have a history of healing from skin abrasions and not resulted in any post inflammatory pigmentation ( PIP ); If you're prone to PIP please avoid this procedure and instead consider a chemical peel as they're a safer and sometimes more effective alternative
Preparing for a CO2 Laser treatment can take up to 6 weeks; New clients are required to have a consultation and an assessment of their skins current health via a basic facial to determine if they're a candidate for treatment and whats required to prep
Expect redness, areas of bleeding, tenderness, several forms of sensitivity, crusting and shedding for 7 to 10 days after a typical treatment and up to 14 days after a more aggressive session or on more mature individuals who may not heal as quickly
CO2 treatments range $800 to $2500 per area | Sessions are about 45 minutes to an hour
